We always push our\u00adselves to look at things dif\u00adfer\u00adent\u00adly, try new tech\u00adniques, and approach every project we take on with a dif\u00adfer\u00adent per\u00adspec\u00adtive. It\u2019s this phi\u00adlos\u00ado\u00adphy that allows each wed\u00adding film we cre\u00adate to have a dis\u00adtinc\u00adtive look and feel \u2014 a vibe and aes\u00adthet\u00adic reflec\u00adtive of the cou\u00adple and the voice they lend their film. And while it\u2019s easy for wed\u00adding video\u00adg\u00adra\u00adphers to take on a style-over-content approach, we feel that our doc\u00adtrine push\u00ades us to think of our sto\u00adries and char\u00adac\u00adters and how our style strength\u00adens these elements.<\/p>\n

Bet\u00adsy and Henry\u2019s film is the cul\u00admi\u00adna\u00adtion of this ideology.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There were a few aspects of Bet\u00adsy and Henry\u2019s day that were fun\u00adda\u00admen\u00adtal to their sto\u00adry: their very emo\u00adtion\u00adal vows, the tra\u00addi\u00adtion\u00adal Chi\u00adnese wed\u00adding rit\u00adu\u00adals, Man\u00addarin cul\u00adture, the com\u00ading togeth\u00ader of their fam\u00adi\u00adlies, and Toronto\u2019s Queen St. West, the street where Hen\u00adry grew up, where the cou\u00adple now lives, and where their wed\u00adding took place.

From before the wed\u00adding day, we knew their per\u00adson\u00adal vows would be inti\u00admate, emo\u00adtion\u00adal and the dri\u00adving force for the nar\u00adra\u00adtive. We also knew that Hen\u00adry would be recit\u00ading \u201cBy Heav\u00aden\u201d, a Yue\u00adfu poem, in Man\u00addarin for Bet\u00adsy. Now our tra\u00addi\u00adtion\u00adal approach for vows is to shoot them with a Canon 135mm (a tele\u00adpho\u00adto lens), but when we test\u00aded the shot while set\u00adting up for their cer\u00ade\u00admo\u00adny, it ren\u00addered the scene in an over\u00adly dra\u00admat\u00adic way \u2014 a com\u00adplete dis\u00adcon\u00adnect with what we had envi\u00adsioned and how we had shot their day so far. So we took a risk and decid\u00aded to shoot their vows \u2014 the most inte\u00adgral part of our sto\u00adry \u2014 on a cou\u00adple of 35mm lens\u00ades (rel\u00ada\u00adtive\u00adly wide angle) and we couldn\u2019t be hap\u00adpi\u00ader with that decision.<\/p>\n\"The\n\"The\n\"The\n\"Henry's\n\"Henry's\n\"Henry's\n\"Bride's\n\"Bride's\n\"Groomsmen\n\"Traditional\n\"Traditional\n\"Traditional\n

The result might not be some\u00adthing that the view\u00ader visu\u00adal\u00adly picks up on, but it\u2019s def\u00adi\u00adnite\u00adly felt. A 35mm lens on a Canon C100 results in rough\u00adly 50mm, the focal length clos\u00adest to how the human eye per\u00adceives the world. So as you watch their cer\u00ade\u00admo\u00adny, you feel as if you\u2019re in that scene stand\u00ading next to Bet\u00adsy and Hen\u00adry, shar\u00ading in their inti\u00admate moment. A feel\u00ading we cap\u00adture again as Bet\u00adsy walks down the aisle and we fol\u00adlow from the front of the space until that last pos\u00adsi\u00adble step, and again when we shot their speech on a 35mm lens, and once more as we sway with them in their first dance \u2014 in what seems like a pri\u00advate moment (which to the cou\u00adple, it total\u00adly was), but then reveal their guests watch\u00ading in the distance.<\/p>\n

It was a film of many firsts for us, but the reward is a com\u00adplete\u00adly immer\u00adsive wed\u00adding film with its own visu\u00adal language.<\/p>\n\"Rustic\n\"Rustic\n\"Rustic\n

But tech\u00adni\u00adcal approach aside, it was real\u00adly Bet\u00adsy and Hen\u00adry who made it all pos\u00adsi\u00adble. Com\u00adplete\u00adly at ease with\u00adin their day and with each oth\u00ader, their love and gen\u00aduine excite\u00adment to be togeth\u00ader emanates from every frame. It\u2019s from this excite\u00adment that the title of their film orig\u00adi\u00adnates. We don\u2019t speak Man\u00addarin but Henry\u2019s sur\u00adprise poem res\u00adonat\u00aded with us. The line \u201cfor\u00adev\u00ader with\u00adout end\u201d cap\u00adtured the ela\u00adtion with which they greet their new lives and the cul\u00adtur\u00adal aspects of their day perfectly.<\/p>\n\"Couple's\n\"Bride\n

We\u2019d be remiss if we didn\u2019t men\u00adtion Blush and Bowties<\/a> and Corian\u00adder Girl<\/a> who trans\u00adformed the rus\u00adtic spaces of The Bur\u00adrough\u00ades<\/a> into a beau\u00adti\u00adful\u00adly ethe\u00adre\u00adal cel\u00ade\u00adbra\u00adtion. Every sec\u00adond of this film looks as beau\u00adti\u00adful as it does because of their hard work.<\/p>\n\"Betsy\n
