It wasn’t until our last meet­ing with Marisa + Josh that they told us they were plan­ning to forego wed­ding videog­ra­phy alto­geth­er. That was until they stum­bled upon our work.

It’s not the first time a cou­ple has shared this sen­ti­ment with us but, being cre­atives them­selves, M+J spe­cial­ly picked up on some of the intri­ca­cies that set our films apart. They loved our sound design, the filmic qual­i­ty of our wed­ding cin­e­matog­ra­phy, our bold music choic­es and that our nar­ra­tives didn’t feel “cheesy” — they were real and true to the cou­ple. But what they real­ly appre­ci­at­ed was that each one of our films felt unique­ly its own. As they worked their way through our port­fo­lio, they noticed every video was dif­fer­ent struc­tural­ly and cre­ative­ly, reflect­ing the cou­ple at the core of each story.

We had nev­er felt so seen.

Any wed­ding plan­ner, pho­tog­ra­ph­er, offi­ciant, A/V team, venue staff, coor­di­na­tor will tell you: we’re per­fec­tion­ists — on the day and beyond. We care about each and every detail (A LOT). We colour grade every frame from scratch, we del­i­cate­ly EQ every spo­ken word in our films and we quality-test both audio and visu­al across iPhones, lap­tops, enter­tain­ment sys­tems and even car stere­os to make sure every­thing hits just right.

It’s par­tic­u­lar­ly reward­ing when a cou­ple not only notices how much goes into craft­ing these works but appre­ci­ates each metic­u­lous trait separately.

And so we are ecsta­t­ic to have made Marisa + Josh their own lit­tle mas­ter­piece. Amidst the enchant­i­ng back­drop of Casa Loma, we were hon­oured to cap­ture the ethe­re­al ele­gance and relaxed romance of this fairy­tale gar­den wedding 🏰🌹💫

A Venue of Dreams: Casa Loma

Casa Loma, with its regal archi­tec­ture and sprawl­ing gar­dens, stands as one of the most nat­u­ral­ly stun­ning wed­ding venues in the heart of Toron­to. Nes­tled amidst lush green­ery and steeped in his­to­ry, it pro­vid­ed the per­fect can­vas for Marisa + Josh’s cel­e­bra­tion. The tow­er­ing tur­rets, intri­cate detail­ing, and beau­ti­ful grounds cre­at­ed a roman­tic ambiance that set the stage for a tru­ly mag­i­cal day orches­trat­ed to per­fec­tion by SY Events.

Ethereal Elegance Meets Relaxed Bliss

What tru­ly set this wed­ding apart was the bal­ance between ethe­re­al ele­gance and a relaxed, com­fort­able atmos­phere. As their offi­ciant, Jere­my Cit­ron, read a pas­sage from “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coel­ho, there was an unde­ni­able sense of tran­quil­i­ty in the air. The read­ing spoke of dreams, des­tiny, and the pur­suit of one’s true call­ing. Its words mir­rored Marisa and Josh’s jour­ney beau­ti­ful­ly and pro­vid­ed the per­fect nar­ra­tive for their wed­ding film.

Intimacy In Every Frame

The heart of the video lay in por­tray­ing the cou­ple’s pro­found com­fort when they were togeth­er. Marisa and Josh shared a con­nec­tion that was pal­pa­ble and we focused on cap­tur­ing those unscript­ed moments where their love shone the bright­est. The stolen glances, the gen­tle touch­es and the shared laugh­ter paint­ed a vivid pic­ture of their dynam­ic. From the anticipation-filled moments before the cer­e­mo­ny to the joy­ous cel­e­bra­tion on the dance floor, every instance reflect­ed their unbreak­able bond.

One of the most excit­ing aspects of this film was our deci­sion to embrace a hand­held look. This shoot­ing style allows us to cap­ture moments with an unprece­dent­ed lev­el of inti­ma­cy. The shak­i­ness of each frame brings view­ers into the scene and clos­er to the gen­uine emo­tions of the day, accent­ing and ele­vat­ing the cin­e­mat­i­cal­ly pol­ished look of our films. It’s some­thing we’ve been incor­po­rat­ing in our wed­ding films a lot more this past sea­son, but this is the first piece to tru­ly show­case the dreamy results.

Preserving the Magic

As wed­ding video­g­ra­phers, our mis­sion was clear: to encap­su­late the essence of the day in a time­less film that would allow Marisa + Josh to relive their spe­cial day with each watch. The sweep­ing shots of the venue, the can­did moments dur­ing the por­trait ses­sion, and the heart­felt speech­es formed the build­ing blocks of a nar­ra­tive that beau­ti­ful­ly told their story.

Marisa + Josh’s cel­e­bra­tion was a sym­pho­ny of ele­gance, tran­quil­i­ty, and love. As the sun set on this dreamy day, it was clear that, amidst the grandeur of the tow­er­ing cas­tle walls, it’s the com­fort and love shared between these two that tru­ly made the cel­e­bra­tion all the more special 🥹
