The Ultimate Guide to Flying a Canon C100 on a Mōvi M5

The Mōvi M5 from Freefly Systems might very well be the best filmmaking tool in our entire arsenal. Used properly, it functions as a steadycam, a dolly, a shoulder-mounted rig, and/or crane in one portable, motor-driven package. Pair that with a Canon EOS C100 with Dual Pixel Auto-Focus and your creative possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

Time and time again, we have come to the conclusion that there is no better gear combination for wedding, documentary, or commercial projects.

3 years ago, we made a tutorial as soon as the Mōvi M5 had dropped. Back then, gymbals were a fairly new concept and, in that video, we talked about mounting a C100 on an M5. Fast-forward to today, this is still our go-to rig and we’ve learned a lot of different ways to use it, putting together a rig configuration that allows us to shoot quickly and efficiently. Our inboxes are constantly flooded with questions about our setup, processes, thoughts, and how our storytelling has evolved with this tool. So today, we’re happy to share: The Ultimate guide to Flying a C100 on a Mōvi M5. continue reading »

Location Tag | Four Seasons Toronto

Four Seasons Toronto Wedding Videographer

In our Location Tag series, we highlight the special places that make doing what we do easier. These inspired spaces provide a beautiful setting and an unmatched atmosphere for the events in our films to unfold, allowing our couples to focus on their celebration and us on our craft. As wedding cinematographers who care deeply about story this is of the utmost importance.

Sitting in the heart of Toronto’s Yorkville District, The Four Seasons Hotel is one of our favourite spots to shoot in the city. The clean and elegant rooms provide a modern yet cozy place for brides and grooms to get ready in the morning, while the stunning reception space features floor to ceiling windows (natural light is a wedding videographer’s best friend) and a beautiful contemporary design. We’ve filmed at the Four Seasons many times, and yet each time we shoot, we find a new way to frame our couples and different ways to shape the light. That’s the beauty of clean spaces, they’re present but they let the subject shine. That translates into a gorgeous setting for our couples’ stories. continue reading »

Featured on WedLuxe’s Winter/Spring 2017 Issue

WedLuxe Magazine Spring Winter 2017 Issue

Snowy days are for perusing the latest issue of WedLuxe Magazine and checking out Rouzhin and Naram’s wedding at the AGO Art Gallery of Ontario. We’re so happy to be featured in the magazine and blog as the wedding videographers for this jaw-dropping celebration and all of its Marie-Antoinette-inspired details.

Why do we love this wedding so much? Aside from completely transforming each room at the AGO into enchanted gardens (ballerinas et all), Rouzhin and Naram kept their love and their guests at the heart of their day. Their touching vows provide an intimate narrative that grounds their story amongst all these grandiose elements. continue reading »

Shealyn + Michael — Between the shadow and the soul.

The first time we met Shea, we were running around the AGO in Toronto putting together a same-day edit for Kali and Edward. She had stopped by to help with the decor and we briefly talked about all the amazingness she had in store for Blake and Corey’s day the following year. It would probably make sense to add that Shea is a crazy talented wedding planner and designer with an eye for the rustic and romantic.

Being big fans of her work, and hitting it off on a few different industry nights and galas since then, we were absolutely thrilled when she reached out to us to be their wedding cinematographers. continue reading »

Sarah + Robert — You’ve ignited my soul.

Sarah and Robert shared an incredible weekend of wedding celebrations at the JW Marriott in Muskoka and, as much as we could talk about the beautiful landscapes carpeted with lush forests and rock formations, or the glass-like water and how it reflected the subdued dusk colours before transitioning into a deep black, or how the couple, along with their friends and families, made each breathtaking scene a little more vibrant with their glowing happiness, our words wouldn’t even come close to doing this beautiful film justice. So we’re going to save you from any more ridiculously long run-on sentences and keep it short.

Our ceremony will be held on an old church that sits on top of a hill overlooking Lake Rosseau.”

We instantly knew, from our very first meeting with Sarah and Robert, that their day would make for a stunning film. Their love and excitement was so evident, their laughter infectious, and their plans so cinematic. Let’s just say that they had us at “our ceremony will be held on an old church that sits on top of a hill overlooking Lake Rosseau”, and when they told us a few weeks before the wedding that they’d be hopping on a boat directly after the ceremony for a scenic ride to their reception, we were completely over the moon.

This is a film of beautiful people, beautiful moments and beautiful landscapes, each playing off each other to elevate the whole. And also, slow-mo. 🐢✨
